Two years ago I made a decision that would forever impact my life. This wasn't a decision that I thought I would ever make. However, it was a decision that I will never regret. Everything in life has it's ups and down. We all have hard times. However, I have one thing that helps to keep me going... my sisters.
Two years ago I chose to become an Alpha Xi Delta... well I think Alpha Xi Delta chose me. When I wrote down Alpha Xi Delta, and solely Alpha Xi Delta, on my preference card I could not have foreseen the doors that were about to open for me or the friendships that were about to be given to me.
Sisterhood isn't always lollipops and rainbows. But, those tough times are what make our bonds of sisterhood even stronger. I owe so much to Alpha Xi Delta and the sisters that I have been blessed with. My colligate experience wouldn't even be half the experience it has been without Alpha Xi Delta. My sisters make me so proud. They are all so accomplished and wonderful in their own ways. I have sisters to cry with. I have sisters who listen to my problems. I have sisters who motivate me to be a better me and then I have sisters who always know how to make me smile.
My sisters accept me... my anger, my tears, my happiness, my goofiness. I wish I could explain in words the pride I feel when I stand in a room with all my sisters and see what we have accomplished and overcome.
Alpha Xi Delta is a part of me. It's not something that can be scrubbed off, ripped away or left to vanish. I will be an Alpha Xi Delta for the rest of my life. For everything Alpha Xi Delta has done for me in the past two year, even a lifetime of service to Alpha Xi Delta wouldn't be enough to pay back everything I've been given.
I don't know if I have ever been a part of an organization that has allowed me to grow so much personally. As we welcome home our new sisters tomorrow I can only hope that they will have the same experience I have had. I look forward to watching my sisters grow and realize their potential. I can't wait to have the women build relationships like the ones I've made these past years.
Our sisterhood isn't something that you can understand if you're not apart of it and it's something I'll never forget. To my sisters across the country and to Alpha Xi Delta I can't thank you enough for everything you've given me. To the women who will be joining our sisterhood tomorrow...
Welcome home.

Fall Recruitment
The Delta Tau chapter is back into the swing of things for the fall 2011 semester. This week and last week have been incredibly exciting, as formal recruitment has begun and we are DAYS always from having new Alpha Xi Delta sisters. The turnout for formal recruitment has been one of the best in years. The women we have been meeting are outstanding women with so many of the qualities we look for in our sisters.
Formal recruitment began with Philanthropy night last Tuesday. There is nothing I love more than being able to spread awareness and talk about Autism Speaks. Our next recruitment event was held on Friday night and our final recruitment event was held Monday night. Tomorrow we will be hosting our preference ceremony and then BID DAY is Friday. Our chapter is beyond excited to celebrate all the women who will be joining our sisterhood.

Find the Perfect Sorority
Some of you may be wondering how to pick the right sorority. You’ve done your research. Viewed all the sororities’ chapter websites, national web sites, Facebook pages, and even asked your friends about them. Where do you go from here? Below are my top five suggestions to help you find the sorority that is right for you.
1. Ask the right questions:
During formal recruitment you will meet a lot of different women and have numerous conversations. Make sure to make these conversations count! Yes, every chapter is making sure you’re a good fit for their sisterhood…but you should be doing the same thing! Ask yourself why you are looking to join a sorority and what are you looking to get out of it. Make sure that the chapter you join will give you the opportunities to meet your goals.
2. Know what you value:
All sororities have different values. Make sure your values match theirs. Formal recruitment is kind of like dating you want to find a sorority that has the same values as you do and can respect your values when they vary.
3. Don’t follow the majority:
Don’t pick a sorority just because your friend is or all the girls in your group want to join that one. Pick the sorority that is right for you despite what sorority other girls are thinking about joining. Joining a sorority should be an independent decision.
4. Look for connections:
When looking for sororities get to know the women and see who you feel a connection with. These girls are potentially going to become your closest friends. If you don’t feel welcomed or feel uncomfortable being around them then maybe they aren’t the right group of women for you.
5. Ask the women why they joined:
I think a really good way to see inside of a sorority is to ask the women why they joined and what their goals were. Then ask how they feel their sorority helped them to accomplish those goals or how it met their expectations. By asking these kinds of questions you can see who is really passionate about their organization and how it has affected their lives.
Best wishes finding the perfect fit for you! Joining a sorority can change your life. Make sure you find one that will help you grow as a person and find a place “where you belong”.

I apologize for the lack of posts over the past month. Finals and work kicked into full gear and left me with very little time to write about what Alpha Xi Delta has been up to!
UW Oshkosh is now at the end of their second week of interim. In the last month we watch some of our lovely sister graduation on the 14th of May. I can’t wait to see what they will accomplish in the future. We also won CHAPTER OF THE YEAR for the 3rd year in a row. I know I can speak for everyone when saying that we are honored to hold the title. We’ve got some tough competition next year but I have high hopes that we can win for the 4th year in a row.
From the looks of Facebook I have seen many sisters posting statuses about their semester GPA being a 3.5 or higher which is outstanding! I’m so proud to call such intelligent and hard working women my sisters.
Also, a big congratulations to our sisters Nicole Korn, Samantha Truetel, and Jenell Riesner for receiving scholarships from Alpha Xi Deltas National Headquarters! Keeping making us proud ladies!
Towards the end of the semester we have a lovely dinner with the men of Omega Delta Phi. Not only are they hospitable but they are great chefs as well.
Our chapter also set new Public Relations record of being in the Advance Titan our campus newspaper three weeks in a row! These articles highlighted our AmaXIng Challenge: Mr. UWO and the Couch-aThon we held to raise money for our sister Missy.
Our sisters Jo King and Sam Treutel were elected as VP of Programing and VP of Membership for the Greek Honors Society Order of Omega!
And we now have four amaXIng new sisters. We’re looking forward to getting even more in the fall.
Summer events to look forward to:
National Convention July 6th- 10th
Summer Retreat August 6th-7th

GREEK WEEK
Another week of friendly competition between the Greek Community is about to begin! There is nothing a personally love more than competitions and games! We have our lovely sister Jessica Kelly-Paul representing us as our Greek Goddess and I know she will do a wonderful job. We have her training to try and eat 8 saltines in less than a minute (which I still think is impossible) but she is really close!
For those of you who don’t know our theme this Greek Week is Greekolodeon! And Alpha Xi Delta is going as the cartoon “The Wild Thornberrys” because we’re cute, kind of nerdy at times, and we can talk to animals. Okay, you got me we really can’t talk to animals but needless to say I can’t wait to see KP (aka Jessica Kelly-Paul) all dressed up for the occasion. Not to mention our sister KK I do believe bought an outfit for the occasion as well.
Last, year during Greek Week all the hard work my sisters put in paid off and we won UW Oshkosh’s 1st ever Greek Week. The trophy is proudly sitting on our mantel and I think it looks to nice there to have to give it up J. I believe my sisters agree with me and that is why I can’t wait to see all the school and Greek community sprit oozing from my sisters pours. That sounded kind of gross.
Here is the list of the events:
Monday: College Feud @ 6:30 in ReeveTuesday: 3on3 Basketball @4pmWednesday: Speaker @4pm flashmob guy!! Cookout at the AXiD house @5Thursday: Osh.O Greek Variety show @7pmFriday: Couch-a-thon from 9am-1am Greek Awards Banquet @6:30pm
Club-U dance in Underground @9pm-1am
The couch-a-thon is being host for our Sister Missy that was in an awful car crash at the beginning of April. You pay a fee to sit on a couch for the day and then have people sponsor you and donate “x” amount of money for every hour you sit! Please join us! Search Couch-a-thon on Facebook to see our event. If you don’t have time to sit on a couch all day stop by Reeve and donate a dollar to get your name hung up to show your support!
Another thing to look forward to this week….
Initiation!
Yes that’s right this Sunday our 4 wonderful new members will official become our sisters! VERY exciting. J
